My President is a Muslim

The My president is a Muslim period of my life is a new and exciting time where I feel no need to censor myself in saying anything or stop myself from doing anything. While my songs were previously beginning to cross the line, much of the music made during this period will immediately be nonsensical, humorous, or offensive. I have quickly begun to clutch these elements like a crutch, scared that if I stray to far from any of these that I will lose interest from the listener. I have also begun to show slight signs of social awareness in a couple of the songs.

This songwriting period began while simultaneously taking a songwriting class and interning at a Rap Label and dealing with the pressures of having my own band. I quickly resorted to pre-set formulas and taboo subjects to create instantly likeable and quirky songs. Though these songs are quick to make the listener laugh, many of these songs lack the musicality found with the previous songwriting periods.

This period is embodied in the song Boner Dance. This song is simple, yet very offensive and taboo all made with a AAABBBCCC rhyme scheme. The song for which this period is named for My President is a Muslim is the sister song to the Boner Dance, using an 8 bar Verse with a punchline saved up at the end of each verse. Though I will always be funny and offensive throughout my entire life, it is obvious that this period cannot sustain itself long.

Such attempts have been made to break the mold such as Blue Skies. Perhaps, the impending second year of college will force me to change my game.

My Current Songwriting Period Is...

Congratulations to the winner who had undeniably the best song in the entire Contest.

The Winning Song!

Just a great song, great idea and great execution in general. Song of the moment to be quite honest.

I think that's a question we need to ask ourselves. What are we really doing? We should pose this question, and then see if we actually differentiate ourselves.

Originality might be overvalued these days, and in exchange for execution and conventional standards we are handed sub-par work.

At the same time, Originality is undervalued, and in exchange for Originality we are handed picture perfect pieces of media which lack any distinction.

Should we do something different?

I don't know if doing something different is important or not, but we should all do something.

Well, I'm just going to put this news post on here to act as a marker. Since this blog post will carry a date, which I am sure will stay consistent, I'm sure to remember this day.

I have a reason for doing this, but it's a little hard to explain.

Do you ever have an idea that sneaks up on you slowly and hangs around? You don't know when you started thinking this idea exactly, but you thought it the day before, you're thinking it today, and you'll know you're going to think it tomorrow? Well, that's this crazy thing that's happen to me.

I've recently started to have this rogue idea wondering around in my head and it's getting stronger and stronger. It's been about a week maybe since this idea has started, but I want a date I can say this originated to (roughly).

Also, question of the day: What would you do with a billion dollars?

A songwriter/composer for the Disney Company to compose for Movie Musicals and other various scores, almost akin to the Sherman Brother's.

I consider a job at Disney to be the biggest thing a person could do to sell out, and I'm all for invalidating my art and selling out. I love music and I love composing it. To do this as a job where I would get paid well, is a dream I want to realize.

I wouldn't even care if I just ended up composing for the Miley Cyrus's and Jonas Brother's of tomorrow, because I love to make music and to make any kind of music is fine with me. It also helps that I'm not that artsy with my music.

So I just put out the last song I wrote, and I'm pretty excited because it has not just one key change, but two. The second sounds a bit awkward, but I think it turned out for the best.

I'm a bit sad, because nobody really likes it yet, but it probably just hasn't found the right audience. Meanwhile, the boner dance has just about peaked in popularity. Funny how that's the only one people want to review. I write songs about Hookers and Homosexuality and nobody cares.

I guess I've got to step up my game. However, before I do that, check out my latest song!

I'm in Love with a Hooker
